Do you remember when you were 5 and I was 3 and we would go to the lake park and sit on the bench watching the swimmers?
Do you remember when you would take your little boat and put it in the water and I would giggle with glee?
Do you remember when we would get into a brotherly quarrel and you would always end up comforting me and drying my tears?
Do you remember going into the Navy and being stationed in the Persian Gulf?
Brother, you returned in a pine box. I will always and forever remember you.

Very well done PJ, raised a little tear here, could almost be a companion piece to my effort this week too, we both saw something similar.

So sad, when siblings share such wonderful memories and then only one of them remains to remember for both of them. I like how you worked your way up to that devastating last line.

Including mine, this is the third story about death inspired by the prompt. It’s interesting how we can’t think of connection without loss.

Yes, that is true James. I think it is because we are older and realize that death is a certainty at some point. When I was younger I really didn’t think about death much less write about it.

Lovingly written story, PJ. It has a great build-up to the sad ending.
Yes, sometimes, our sad memories of a loved one are sprinkled with joyful ones.

Hey PJ. I’m doing well. Out for errands today and then finishing some work editing and a work event Saturday, before heading to Las Vegas on Monday. I can’t wait. How did your grandkids’ graduations go and your visit with them?

How exciting! Las Vegas — fun, fun, fun!! Her graduation went wonderful and I had a nice visit with all of them. I enjoyed them but it was good to get home.

Yes I’m sure. Nice to be in your own bed and probably have sugar settle down too. Did she come with you? Yes I’m excited for the trip. I wish our dollar was nearer to the US one though lol. It’s at 77 cents so not awful but not good. Three years ago it was at 85 cents. Either way lots to do 🙂

I didn’t take Sugar with me. My sister kept her for me. I didn’t realize there was such a difference in the US and Canadian currency! That is really too bad! I hope you have lots of fun and stay safe! I am sure you will, but I have to put that “motherly” comment in. LOL!

Oh nice for your sister. But you probably missed her a lot I bet. Yeah, a few years back the dollar was better. On one trip to Vegas in 2008ish are dollar was actually a bit higher. But for the last couple years you lose about 23-25 cents. It’s okay though, believe it or not, the shopping at certain stores is still cheaper, especially in a JUNE when there’s sales. I will enjoy myself and thank you for advice. I appreciate it. 😊🤗💕

Yes, it was very nice of my sister and you’re right, I missed her a lot! I’m glad you will be able to hit some good sales in Vegas and make your trip more worthwhile, especially losing 25 cents on a dollar! Have a great trip!
