Computer Problems

Last night I updated to the new iOS software, iOS 9.0.1 and my entire iPad crashed. With the help of Apple Support, I finally got my iPad up and running (thanks to ICloud backup and restore) but I have lost some emails and documents between today and September 21, 2015.

The reason I am sending this post is to let you know that, if you submitted a story for this weeks Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers Challenge in the past few days and I have not read it, then it is highly possible I don't have that on my computer anymore. Please let me know if you have submitted a story that I have not read and commented on.

Thank you!

  1. When Windows 10 came out I updated and my laptop crashed. I had to bring it in and lost it for over two weeks. It worked fine for about a month, then went crazy on me again. I brought it back and they gave me a brand new lap top but I lost a lot that I had no where else but on that machine!

    • That’s really a bummer! I’m glad you were able to get a new laptop but losing that many files is terrible! I have lost about 5 days of files so that isn’t too terribly bad, but still a bummer.

      • haha. I was going to tell you to go for Windows, but with Emilio’s feedback above I’ll keep my mouth shut… Sorry to hear about the bad expriences you both had. I’ve been using Windows 10 for wuite a while and never had many issues, but I use it on a PC, not on a laptop. My laptop is a Surface Pro 1 and I never update simply because I’m lazy. I barely use it anyways, as I prefer the conforts of a bit keyboard and a big screen the PC provides me with… πŸ˜‰

      • I understand if you like a big screen. I use my iPad like a laptop. I have it on a bluetooth keyboard so it is like a laptop. I love it! It’s so much easier to blog on my iPad than it is on my lap top (I have a Macbook Pro and I don’t know how to use it very well). But the down turn on using an iPad is the smaller screen.

  2. I just had problems with the 8 udpated on my new iPhone and had to go back to factory mode. It did keep my emails and contacts only. I am afraid to try 9 especially if I have to go through 8 again to get to it.

    • I’m certainly going to be leery of any updates from now on. I had to go back to factory settings too but fortunately, ICloud had backed up my iPad on September 21 so I was able to load those files in. THANK GOODNESS!!
